About Boethius
The Consolation of Philosophy was written in prison while awaiting execution. Lady Philosophy appears to teach him that fortune is a turning wheel. Translated Aristotle on logic, preserving it for the Middle Ages. Rose to consul, then fell from favor and was executed in 524. His final book became one of the most copied works of the medieval era. Bridged classical antiquity and medieval thought almost single-handed.
