A Vindication of the Rights of Woman demanded real education for women. Argued that reason belongs to the species, not to one sex. Rejected the cramped education Rousseau prescribed for girls. Ran a school with her sisters at Newington Green. Died after giving birth to the future author of Frankenstein. Her daughter Mary Shelley invented science fiction.
