About Voltaire

Candide razed the optimism of Leibniz with one disaster after another. We must cultivate our garden, the tale concludes. Produced plays, histories, letters, and pamphlets by the thousand. Campaigned to rehabilitate Jean Calas, a victim of judicial murder. His Essay on Customs wrote world history without Europe at the center. Voltaire was just one of his many pen names.
