The prince of Renaissance humanists. Edited the first printed Greek New Testament. The Praise of Folly mocks popes, professors, and pedants through the voice of Lady Folly. Spread classical wisdom through his Adages. Refused to join Luther and was attacked by both sides. His scholarship cracked the foundations of the old church.
