The Commentator on Aristotle, his work was essential to medieval European philosophy. Argued that philosophy and religion are different paths to the same truth. His theory of the unity of the intellect was controversial. Banished and his books burned by the Almohad caliph. His ideas were condemned by the Catholic Church in 1270.
