About Adi Shankara

The architect of Advaita Vedanta, the doctrine of nondualism. Taught that Atman and Brahman are one and separation is illusion. Walked the length of India debating rival schools and founding monasteries. His commentaries on the Upanishads and the Gita remain foundational. Died around age 32 after an immense body of work. Shaped Hindu philosophy more than anyone since the sages of the Upanishads.
